……after many years of capturing the crow family in print and drawing, the rooks began to come out of the frames to fill

the bird shaped empty spaces in our house. These appeared soon after a summer companion of last year, an injured rook

who had fallen out of the nest during a storm and became a source of wonder, joy and insight, had left to join the local

flock in autumn.

as to the little brown ones……..they just came along.
